Surprisingly, the movie is entertaining with decent acting and only hints of corny dialogue. Of course it was filled with unbelievable escape-from-disaster sequences but what else can you expect from a blockbuster movie.

For those interested in the Mayan prophecies and theories about 2012, you will be disappointed as the movie only briefly touches upon the subject. A quick synopsis of the cause of the world cataclysm is presented with only a couple of references to the Mayan calendar prophecies. But in the end, it is still an entertaining movie with incredible special effects.
